[Unit Project 2] How to make cream stew

Do you know cream stew is a Japanese food? Cream stew is originating in Japan. It was created during food shortages after the war. At that time, it was made with skimmed milk powder instead of milk.

I eat it with rice at my parent's house. Some people find cream stew with rice disgusting. According to House Foods(2023), the result of a survey of 8,460 men and women in thier teens to 60s who eat cream stew found that 66.4% said that they often eat it with rice. This time, I will make a cream stew that is easy to eat with rice.

I wanted to make the stew on Christmas day. And it was White Christmas too. So I chose the recipe. Let's make it on a snowy day and become warm from the inside.

You will need:
・A kitchen knife
・A cutting board
・A 24cm diameter frying pan
・A wooden spatulas
・A teaspoon and a tablespoon
・A ladle
・Two 20cm diameter plates

Ingredients:
This recipe yields 2 servings.
・180g salmon
・One-forth teaspoons salt
・One tablespoon of cooking sake
・100g frozen spinach
・One-forth of onion
・60g shimeji mushrooms
・One tablespoon cake flour
・One teasppon consomme granules
・50ml water
・250ml milk
・One tablespoon rice oil

Procedures:
1. First, brining the salmon in salt.
2. Next, cut the onion into 1cm wide pieces.
3. Then, remove the stem from the shimeji mushrooms and divide them into small bunches.
4. Heat the rice oil in the frying pan over medium heat.
5. After that, add *cooking sake and saute until the salmon is cooked.
*cooking sake = Seasoning to remove fishy smell

6. Add step 3 and saute over medium heat until the onions are soft, then add the flour and saute until it is no longer powdery.
7. Add the frozen spinach, the milk, the consomme granules, and the water. Mix on low heat. Simmer for about 5 minutes until it thickens, then turn off the heat and serve on a plate.
I think it goes well with rice because of the salmon in it. Try it any way you like. Also, it would be delicious if you changed the ingredients and made it with chicken, carrots, broccoli, or something else. If you can't prepare salmon, make it with bacon or wiener.
